How to Use AI to Write Better Website Copy Without Sounding Like AI

AI

You can usually recognize bad AI copy.

“Unlock the power of cutting-edge solutions.”

“Elevate your digital journey.”

“Navigate the ever-evolving landscape.”

The problem is not simply that AI wrote it.

The problem is that AI received too little context and nobody edited the result.

Start With Customer Information

Before asking AI for copy, provide the raw material a professional copywriter would need.

Who are your customers?

What problems do they have?

What services do you offer?

Why do people choose you?

What objections appear in sales conversations?

What language do customers use?

AI performs much better when it has specific information.

Give It Real Source Material

Use existing sales emails, proposals, FAQs, call transcripts and customer questions.

Those sources contain the language of the business.

Tell the AI to stay grounded in that information rather than inventing claims.

Ask for Clarity, Not Hype

Prompt AI to write in plain language.

Ban vague phrases if necessary.

You can explicitly request:

Short sentences.

Concrete language.

No unnecessary superlatives.

No claims that cannot be supported.

No phrases such as “revolutionary,” “world-class” or “cutting-edge.”

Constraints improve the draft.

Generate Sections, Not Entire Websites

Instead of asking:

“Write my whole website.”

Work section by section.

Hero.

Problem.

Service explanation.

Process.

FAQ.

Call to action.

You can review quality before building on it.

Edit the First Draft

AI should reduce blank-page time.

It should not eliminate editing.

Ask:

Would I actually say this?

Is this claim true?

Does this sound like every competitor?

Can the sentence be more specific?

Does it answer something the customer cares about?

Add Original Experience

Generic AI cannot manufacture your real project experience.

If you discovered that clients frequently struggle with plugin overload or poorly configured forms, include that insight.

Original observations make content useful.

Avoid Fake Case Studies

Never ask AI to invent customer results or testimonials.

If you do not have a number, do not fabricate one.

Trust is more valuable than impressive fiction.

Make Calls to Action Natural

AI often produces aggressive CTAs because it has seen huge amounts of marketing text.

Your CTA can be simple.

“Tell me what you’re trying to fix.”

“Book a discovery call.”

“Request an audit.”

Match your actual sales process.

Use AI as an Editor Too

AI is useful after the draft exists.

Ask it to:

Find repetition.

Shorten paragraphs.

Identify vague claims.

Suggest clearer headings.

Flag jargon.

Generate alternative headlines.

That can be more useful than asking it to create everything from scratch.

The Goal Is Better Communication

Your website copy should sound like your business on its best day.

Clear.

Useful.

Confident.

Specific.

AI can help you reach that version faster.

But the final layer—the judgment about what is true, relevant and genuinely you—still deserves a person.

Where to go next

If you want AI working quietly inside a process rather than bolted onto the website, my system automation and integration service is where that usually starts. You can also tell me what you are trying to fix and I will tell you honestly whether it is worth paying someone to solve.
